US-based Nigerian soldier pleads with Trump over visa denial of critically ill daughter

A Nigerian woman serving in the United States Army has made an emotional appeal to President Donald Trump over the visa denial of her 10-year-old daughter, who remains in Nigeria and is reportedly battling a critical illness.

The woman, identified as Uza Marker, said she has been separated from her daughter for about 10 years and had hoped to reunite with her in the United States after completing the required immigration processes.

According to her, the situation became more urgent after her daughter fell seriously ill and began requiring medical care that she believes is difficult to access in Nigeria.

In an emotional video shared on social media, Marker appealed directly to Trump, saying she was speaking not as a soldier but as a mother desperate to save her child.

She said, “Please do not scroll, I’m on the verge of losing my daughter. Dear Mr. President, the state social media is powerful, and this is my last resort.”

Marker said she understood the importance of US immigration laws and national security but urged the government to consider a humanitarian exception in her daughter’s case.

She added, “My daughter is critically ill. I have all the paperwork to prove it, medical reports. This is just a mother fighting for her daughter to live and survive.”

The US Army member said she had contacted her military commanders and sought assistance from Senator Amy Klobuchar, but the visa process and current policies had continued to prevent her children from joining her in the United States.

Marker also said she could not return to Nigeria because of security concerns and stressed that her children were minors who posed no threat to the United States.

“I am a citizen of America. Dear Mr. President, please help me reunite with my daughter,” she pleaded.

She urged members of the public to share her appeal widely so that it could reach the US President, adding that she had also attempted to contact major news organisations without receiving a response.

“I need my daughter every day. I never thought there would be a day I would be facing a camera and crying and pleading to the public,” she said.

Marker ended her appeal by asking Trump to review her daughter’s case and allow her to obtain a visa so she could reunite with her mother and receive the medical treatment she needs.
